Apply for a Nurse Residency
Phase 1: Unit Orientation
You will spend 12 weeks in the Critical Care Division with a preceptor (mentor) who will help you develop your critical thinking and clinical judgement skills.

Four-Hour Shift Rotations
You will spend two weeks completing clinical skills team (CST), which includes shadow rotations with Respiratory Therapy and in one of the ICUs (CCU, MICU, or SICU).
Simulations
Throughout the program, you will complete simulations with the ED Clinical Mentor Team to help further develop your skills.
Phase 2: Home Unit Placement
Upon successful completion of the unit orientation, you will be offered a position in the Emergency Department.
Shift Details
You will be assigned a day or night shift, depending on staffing needs.
Phase 3: Professional Development Lectures
While working in the Emergency Department, you will attend four lecture classes to continue developing your skills.

Evidence-Based Project
At the one-year mark, you will complete an evidence-based (not research) project as a final assignment for your nurse residency.
Poster Presentation
With the help of your nurse manager and clinical mentor, you will prepare and present a poster of your project to the Unit-Based Practice Committee.
