Nurse Scholars Program
Program Details
Overview
Nurse scholars receive a $250 stipend every two weeks, up to a total of $5,000. Recipients receive their educational support funds during the last year of your nursing education.
Nurse Residency
Nurse Scholars are accepted into the Lexington Health’s Registered Nurse Residency Program upon graduation. The Nurse Scholars Program requires a one-month commitment, working as a Registered Nurse at Lexington Health, for every month of educational stipend support received.
Eligibility Requirements
Who can apply?
- Students with at least a 3.0 GPA who are enrolled in prelicensure ASN/ADN, BSN and Direct-Entry MSN (MEPN) programs.
- Lexington Health employees
Service Requirement
Upon acceptance to the Nurse Scholars Program, the student agrees to become a full-time Registered Nurse at Lexington Health for each month of educational support received.
Repayment will be prorated if the student leaves before satisfying the commitment.
Application Process
Applications are accepted on a year-round basis.
When to Apply
Students are encouraged to submit their application 12–15 months prior to their anticipated graduation date. Applications are accepted two months prior to your final semester before graduation.

- 2 References — From current faculty or clinical instructors
- Recorded Interview (RIVS) — You will share your interests, accomplishments, and future nursing goals
Interviews
Once your application has been screened for completeness, you will be scheduled to have an interview with members of the Lexington Health Nurse Scholars Selection Committee.
Acceptance Notification
Applications take 2 – 3 months to review. Scholars will be notified by email.
